What to Expect
The Show
Eurovision is unlike anything else on television. Every year, 25 nations take the stage in a single spectacular live show, each performing an original song in whatever style they choose — and they really do choose everything. Expect pop ballads, folk-electronic hybrids, outrageous comedy acts, and entries that defy categorization entirely, delivered with elaborate staging and jaw-dropping costumes on an arena scale.
The contest has also launched some of the biggest names in music history — ABBA won for Sweden in 1974 with “Waterloo,” and Celine Dion represented Switzerland to victory in 1988.
With around 160 million viewers worldwide, it is one of the largest live television events on the planet, beloved across cultures and with a particularly passionate following in the LGBTQI+ community for its joyful tradition of fearless self-expression.
And then, there’s the famous voting, where every participating country awards points for the best acts – an exhilarating experience that culminates in crowing the winning country and host of next year's event.
